Kare is built to run entirely locally on your iPhone. No personal data is ever sent to an external server. This page explains what the app records, where, and why.
Who we are
Kare (“the app”) is published by Mathias Reichen, an independent developer. For any question about this policy or how your data is handled, you can write to us at the address listed at the bottom of this page.
Data the app records
Kare only records what is needed for it to work. This data is stored locally on your iPhone and never leaves your device.
No email, no phone number, no location, no contacts or address book are ever read or stored.
Where your data is stored
All data listed above is stored locally in the secure memory of your iPhone, in the app’s sandbox as managed by iOS. It is protected by Apple’s native mechanisms (app sandbox, device storage encryption).
No external server is used. Kare has no internet database. Your stats, nickname and settings stay strictly on your device.
Third-party services
The only third-party services involved in running Kare are Apple’s, required to distribute the app and provide minimal technical monitoring:
- App Store — to download and update the app.
- TestFlight — to distribute the beta version.
- Apple App Analytics — anonymous, aggregated performance stats provided by Apple (crashes, load time). No personal data is associated.
These services are governed by Apple’s privacy policy. No other third-party service (Firebase, Google, Meta, etc.) is integrated into Kare.
Advertising and tracking
Kare contains no advertising. The app does not use Apple’s Advertising Identifier (IDFA), performs no cross-app tracking, and sells no data to third parties.
Your rights
Since your data is only stored on your iPhone, you are in full control at any time:
- Access: all data is visible in the app (Stats and Settings screens).
- Change: adjust your settings freely in Settings.
- Deletion: use the “Reset” button in the app, or delete the app from iOS — all data is immediately and permanently removed.
Under GDPR and Swiss FADP, you also have a right of access, rectification and erasure that you can exercise by writing to us.
Audience
Kare is intended for people aged 18 and over. The app knowingly collects no data about minors. If you believe a minor is using Kare, please contact us so we can take the necessary steps.
Health and disclaimers
Kare is a personal support tool. It does not replace the advice of a health professional. For medical support with quitting tobacco, consult your doctor or a tobacco specialist.
Changes to this policy
This policy may evolve if the app’s features change. Any material change will be signaled in the app and the effective date at the top of this page will be updated. Version history is kept on request.
